7. Slowly pour 5 ml of methylated spirits down the side of test tube

Results

Where did you find dna?  At the top of the solution the DNA is the white snotty looking stuff.

What makes up DNA?  Chromosomes

How much DNA does humans share with the kiwi fruit? About 8.000 Gene's.

Did it work? Yes we can clearly see the DNA.
Would you do anything differently? No because it worked good.

Dilemma response

Today we were asked to respond to these questions/situations here are my responses for if I was in this situation, what would you do?

How would you respond in the 1-5 situation?

Personally I would flick the switch and make the train one person supposed to five as 5 people dying is worse than one person and that could be a loss to 5 families.

How would you respond to the bridge one?

Personally I would leave him on the bridge because if I was going to push him I would get charged for murder.

Wind Racer

Aim: To make a wind-racer with materials to go the longest distance.

Method: Use newspaper as a sail then strengthen it with cardboard, then we used skewers to strengthen the newspaper so it dint bend around so it stayed straight and wind hit it evenly.

Results:

What forces were acting on it? Gravity - Because it dint fly into space. Push - As the air from the leaf blower pushed the wind racer forwards. Friction - Friction slowed it down as it dint slide forever. Support - As the wind racer didn't fall through the earth.

Why did it slow down? Because when it goes it hits a wind going towards it and slowing it down after the leaf blower range could not reach the wind racer

Conclusion:.

Did it work: Yes it did work my team's wind racer went  the longest distance.

What would you do differently? Another of newspaper to make it stronger and go for longer.

Model Atom

Aim - To make a mdoel atom Method - 1. Chose an atom to make (between hydregeon and neon) 2. Work out how many protons, neutrons and electrons it has 3. Asign protons and neutrons to a particular colour bead 4. Get a ball of blue tac and stick teh protons and neutrons to this to make your neucles 5. Cut out the electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid 6. Connect the necules and electron shells with a piece of string 7. Create a label to go above the model so people know what you have created Results -
Discussions - Atomic and mass number - Atomic = 6 Mass = 12 Number of preotons, electrons and neutrons = 8 Electron arrangement 2-6 2 Interesting facts 1. Carbon is a chemical element with the symbol C and atomic number 6. 2. Atomic Weight (average mass of the atom): 12.0107 Conclusion - Did it work? Yes it did Would you do anything different? No I dont think so
