Coraline - Lighting and Colour
In Coraline there are extreme lighting and colour differences between the real world and the other world. When we first see the real world it’s grey and
dark. It is shown as this boring place that Coraline lives in. When we are introduced to the other world it is bright, colourful and welcoming. This place
is vibrant, full of colour, and is presented as the fun place. Then by the end of the film and bright warm colours of the other turn into blinding purple
and greens. The colour palette changes while still keeping the bright colours of the other world, it’s still darker as the other world is falling apart.
At the end of the film we are back in the real world. Instead of it being grey and dull, it’s brighter while still keeping the muted colour palette.
